DARREN REES

David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and BBC Wildlife Magazine

Wildlife Artist of the Year 2021

‘If I fantasise about my Desert Island Paintings - the ten works which I would wish to be shipwrecked with - along with the Van Gogh's, the Vermeer's, Miro's and Rothko's would be one by Darren Rees. Darren can paint properly, a rare skill, and that he paints wildlife subjects is fortunate for those of us who share his passion for the subject.'    Chris Packham

‘Rees’s birds are vibrant and full of life.’  New Scientist

Darren Rees has been painting for over thirty years and he is one of our most decorated and highly respected wildlife artists. His first solo book Bird Impressions was published in 1993 to much critical acclaim and proved to be influential for many young artists. Darren is a knowledgeable naturalist and he acts as a guide for wildlife tours to several overseas destinations. He is also keen to promote the work of other painters of natural history and has penned many essays and a much-praised series of profiles of wildlife artists. Sharing his enthusiasm for nature through pictures, words and tours has taken him around the globe and we invite you to share his world. With portfolios and sketchbooks from his travels; art projects with conservation groups and details on exhibitions and limited edition prints, we hope you enjoy his website.
